Using Gamification to Improve Vegetable Intake in Young Adults

VegeChamp is a theory based mobile gaming intervention designed to motivate young adults to improve their vegetable intake by enhancing their self-efficacy for cooking with vegetables and providing quick and easy ways to include them in their diet.

The gaming and self-monitoring prototype apps are undergoing pilot testing before being rolled out in a trial intervention. Feedback is being used to improve app appearance, features and engagement.

Future directions include running focus groups with young adults to gather opinions on updated app and collaborating with interested stakeholders to run a randomised controlled trial to test the effects of a gamified vegetable intervention on intake.
